Mark On You
This song has an official lyric video.
Lyrics
When this is over
When we leave this all behind us
Deep in the moonless night
When the rescue team finds us
It's gonna get so dark for you
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
Can't trust anybody
Even the tough ones crack
Train up a swordsman
To stab you in the back
I know this much is true
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
No man[1] knows the hour or the day
But the mark is gonna be visible
From several blocks away
Maybe you'll make it
To the far side of the hill
Maybe you will see me coming
But I don't think you will
Make peace with your family
You walk softly on this earth
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
I'm gonna leave a mark on you
I'm gonna leave a mark on you

Commentary
- 'Mark on You’ is a specific story about somebody who's going after someone. Either this or 'Training Montage' was probably the first song I wrote for this, and I was like, 'Oh man, this feels like a vein.' Revenge is something you can ardently want and you never have to be satisfied by what you get because you're not going to get it. (JD, Album commentary on Apple Music)
