Blood Capsules
Lyrics
When the last of the East Coast money ran dry
And the casually-dressed bill collectors
Started casually dropping[1] on by
And the residuals, but there weren't any more residuals
At least several months behind
On the payments to certain individuals
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules[2]
I'm off the juice for seven months
I learn to like living clean
But there just isn't any money
On the independent scene
Not even if you're cutting corners
Staying in nights, eating alone
Somebody's gotta pay the gas bill
It's not gonna go away on its own
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I'm the biggest guy in the bank line
Everybody else looks tiny
I could almost smell the fear
On the lunch-hour car salesman behind me
I know this isn't gonna work
I guess I'll see it when I see it
I can't work any other jobs
This was my last and best idea
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules

- I'm excited to play this song. This is a dance number. Seriously, I mean it, this is a dance number. (2015-04-04 - The Jinx, Savannah)
- I know the main thing, the way you're supposed to go is like, you play a mix of songs, then you come to the encore, and you do the ones that everybody knows. We played two from the new album so far....I'm gonna go ahead and play another one. [woo!] It is a dance number. I don't mean to harangue you, but when I say it's a dance number in some of these other towns, there's only a couple people who dance, and they were gonna dance anyway. I should like to see all of us dance. [inaudible] except for the guitar. So my dance is a little restrained tonight. The rest of you are not so encumbered. (2015-04-07 - Cat's Cradle, Carrboro)
- This is a song about professional wrestling. In the earlier days, if there was a lightbulb, what looked like a red lightbulb in the corner of the turnbuckle nobody was saying nothin' about it. But you could rest assured that lightbulb would be missing by the end of the night, and somebody would have blood on his face. Then, as the march of technology continued, they came to figure we could put something that'll decoagualate on warmth in a little gelatin capsule, so you could stuff those in the corner of your mouth and look like you're bleeding, when you need to bleed. This is a song about when you need to bleed, it's called Blood Capsules. (2023-12-02 The Queen)
