It's about hallucinating something but looking at it and understanding the things that, if they're true for you, are as true as anything in the world and you are entitled to them and if people say you're not, you don't have to listen to them. Rachel and I had been engaged in a project of explaining...that the whole thing that was then sort of rising — this concept of appreciating things ironically — was a lot of horseshit. That you just like stuff that you like and you don't say, 'Oh, I like this because it's so dumb,' because you're kidding yourself and lying to others when you do that.
